The Yarck Grocer and Cafe is run by the same family behind the Mansfield Green Grocer, and it shows in the small things: the same growers on speed dial, the same named farms on the labels, the same standards whether you're filling a jar or ordering a coffee. The difference here is you can sit down and eat it too.

Flour with a bit of weight to it. Eggs still faintly warm from the morning drop-off. Milk, bread, the things you actually run out of on a Tuesday, sitting on the shelf beside the kombucha and the pantry refillery. Whether you've driven in from Yea, Alexandra, Benalla, or further afield, this isn't a stop for something interesting on the way through. It's a full week's shop, done properly.

The Cafe: what we make, and where it comes from.

The kitchen draws from the same shelves you're standing in front of.

The kitchen runs on the same shelves as the shop. Huffkins come out of the oven soft and a little uneven, the way biodynamic flour bakes. The lemon lentil soup is the kind that fogs up the window on a cold morning. Smoked salmon from Gamze in Wangaratta, sourdough crumpets from Silver Creek in Beechworth, blueberries that came from the Strathbogie Ranges still smelling of the orchard. Tea from Love T near Geelong, coffee from Silva in the Yarra Valley, the old-school way: two shots, biodynamic milk unless you ask otherwise.

Nothing on the plate is a stranger to the shelf behind you.

Bulk organic and biodynamic pantry staples sold by weight: flours, grains, nuts, seeds, spices, and more. Bring your own jars or borrow from our jar drop-off. Weigh, fill, and pay only for what you take. One less thing in the bin every time.

1. Refill your own containers

Weigh, fill, weigh again

Bring your clean containers in-store and we’ll weigh them at the counter first.
Then you can fill them yourself just the right amount, no more and no less.

When you're done, we’ll weigh them again at checkout and subtract the container weight. Simple, satisfying, and a little bit fun.

2. We’ll fill them for you

Just drop in your jars or use ours

Don’t have time to hang around? Just drop off your clean, labelled containers, and we’ll fill them with exactly what you’ve asked for.

Whether it’s half a kilo of pasta or just a few teaspoons of turmeric, we’ll have it packed and waiting for you when you return.

3. Use our bags or borrow-a-jar

Forget your jars? No worries.

We have paper bags on hand, or you can borrow from our stash of clean, sanitised jars. We'll help you fill them if you like and you can return them later!

Yes. The cafe menu at the Yarck Grocer and Cafe includes gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan options. Plant milk alternatives are available with every coffee or tea at no extra charge.
Smoothies, frittatas, and most baked goods are usually ready when you arrive. The frittata tends to sell out by early afternoon, so come earlier if that is what you are after. Soups and a few menu items are cooked fresh, which takes a little longer.
Delivery currently runs from the Mansfield Green Grocer, Mondays and Fridays. The Yarck Grocer and Cafe is open 7 days for in-person shopping and the cafe. Get in touch on 0401 636 273 if you have a specific delivery question.
There is indoo and shaded outdoor seating if you want to stay, and everything is also available to take away.
